Are you surprised that Swiss chard and
spinach don’t make the list?
It’s because they contain
calcium binders which limit the amount of calcium we actually absorb from these foods making them
not such a good source. It would take 8 cups of spinach (containing 6 times as much calcium as 1 cup of milk) to deliver the equivalent in absorbable calcium.
